In 1996 two NIH researchers asked a couple of friends in private industry to manufacture several rather complicated custom-formulated bacterial growth media plates. The products exceeded the researchers expectations, standing orders were placed and a company was born. Over the past years, K-D Medical has grown substantially from a small, custom bacterial and yeast products company to become a major molecular biology products supplier throughout the USA. We're a primary molecular biology manufacturer to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) as well as many major Universities and pharmaceutical companies.
